I met architect and designer at the BoConcept Trend Talk with Morten Georgsen. He created this plywood chair when he was in graduate school at the University of Pennsylvania.
The chair is made from three sheets of ordinary stock plywood purchased from , laminated together and milled on a CNC milling machine. The milling process exposes the edge grain of the plywood and the bands are designed in a way to allow a soft seating surface. The individual bands actually deform and contour to a person’s body. He says it’s comfy, and I think if you slapped a nice little seat cushion on there, I could certainly enjoy a book.
